This rather striking scene was painted with acrylic on canvas glued to a sealed board. It is framed with a simple black square profile frame and then back-framed on an off -white panel giving the piece a contemporary look and bringing out the contrasting lights and darks in the artwork.
The size of the painting including the frame is 555 x 770mm.
The price of the original includes the frame but shipping is not available for this item. It may be picked up from my studio in Ilam, Christchurch.
The Mackenzie Country refers to a large basin in New Zealand's inland South Island. The landscape is dramatic, the climate severe and the terrain varies from golden grasslands to turquoise glacial lakes offering stunning vistas of some of the highest mountains in NZ including Aoraki Mt Cook. On this occasion the sun had managed to peep under the layer of heavy autumn clouds creating the type of extraordinary lighting that the Mackenzie Country is known for. The haybales were perfectly positioned to lead the viewers eye towards the overarching hills.
